The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in Canada has enjoyed much success in recent times. The pandemic has solidified everyone’s desire to be close to their family. This PGP Program offers interested candidates a chance to sponsor their beloved parents and grandparents so they can settle down in Canada.
In 2021, Canada started issuing invitations under the Parents and Grandparents Program (2021) on September 23. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will continue distributing the invitations until October 7.
Only those candidates who successfully submitted an Expression of Interest form for the 2020 PGP program in 2020 are eligible to get invited in 2021. A total of 30,000 eligible candidates will receive sponsorship invitations. Both permanent citizens and Canadian citizens can become sponsors via the program.
How to submit the application
The sponsors who are invited can complete their Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) applications within two months. They have to satisfy all the PGP’s eligibility criteria listed by IRCC. You have to follow these steps to prepare and complete your application:
IRCC lists the average processing times in real-time on their website. Ask the person you are sponsoring to create an account on the website if they want to receive instant email updates and detailed status updates.
Hiring an immigration lawyer is not mandatory for becoming a PGP sponsor, but you will receive help submitting a perfect application!
