On 16th January 2020, the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration or the MIFI held an invitation draw via their Arrima portal. The candidates of this event belong to the group of 16000 immigrants whose pending application of citizenship faced rejection due to the immigration reforms taking place in Quebec or Bill 9.
The introduction of Arrima in the year 2018, benefitted the immigrants who belonged to the Regular Skilled Worker Program. The portal helps in receiving and collecting the applications submitted.
The immigrants, under the Worker Program in order to come to Quebec firstly must submit an EOI or Expression of Interest via the Arrima portal. On meeting the criteria, the MIFI will allow the immigrant to come into Quebec’s labor market.
Another benefit of the portal is that it helps the candidates by helping them to apply for CSQ and qualifying for the invitation draws regarding citizenship.
To have access to this portal, a candidate must create his profile and fill up the questionnaire section. Based on the rank he receives on his answers, he will be able to apply for permanent residence via the Regular Worker Program or CSQ. The rank might be in correspondence to the needs in the labor market as well. If he qualifies for the CSQ, he will have a period of approximately six months to complete the entire process.
On approval of CSQ, the immigrant candidate will be eligible for applying for a permanent residence. He will have to go through some medical and criminal verifications as well. The Federal Immigration Ministry of Canada takes care of all these steps.
Till February 2020, around the Ministry has sent 23 invitations to the people who have applied and candidates who faced the unpredictable reforms of Bill 9 received the maximum priority this Arrima Draw.
