Manitoba Hosts New Express Entry Draw to Issue 1140 Invitations

Canada is aiming to welcome a higher number of immigrants this year to make up for the immigration losses suffered in 2020. The provinces are hosting regular draws to invite skilled, eligible candidates who will be able to make valuable contributions to the economy.

Details of the draw

Manitoba held its most recent draw under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on July 27. It turned out to be massively successful, with the province issuing 1,140 invitations to skilled Express Entry candidates fulfilling the requirements of the Skilled Workers Overseas stream. They will now be able to apply for a provincial nomination. This is the maximum number of invitations Manitoba has ever issued in one draw. The ranking score cutoff for the draw was 557. On June 28, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) had issued 1,017 Express Entry invitations, but that record is now broken.

The candidates who received invitations in the new draw have to apply for their provincial nomination via the Skilled Workers Overseas stream. They should have a registered profile in the provincial Expression of Interest (EOI) system, and their EOI score had to be at least 557 to qualify for the Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA). The EOI score is not be confused with the CRS score as the latter was not a requirement for this draw.

There is no doubt that candidates will try their best to secure a provincial nomination because it will award them with 600 additional CRS points that will bolster their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a future federal Express Entry draw.
