Express Entry Latest Draw

Express Entry (EE) is your guide to Canada’s immigration system for Skilled Workers. The EE system organizes the immigration process for three Federal Immigration Programs: Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class. Since Express Entry’s introduction in 2015, the Government of Canada has introduced many programs to ensure the EE system meets Canada’s immigration priorities.

To be eligible for the Express Entry system, a candidate is required to submit an Express Entry profile in the pool of candidates. All profiles are ranked in the pool using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The ones with the highest-ranking from the pool receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

What is an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

An invitation to apply is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It is issued on a priority basis when a draw is conducted and issued to those Canada immigration aspirants in the Express Entry pool who has the highest CRS score.

Each EE draw has a minimum cut-off score and only those with CRS score above or equal to the cutoff receive the ITA.

How to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) with a low CRS score?

The Express Entry system considers six selection factors, i.e. age, education qualification, work experience, language proficiency, etc. If your CRS score is low based on these selection factors, then you may find out alternate options to get the ITA.

Here’s how you can increase your CRS score:

  •  Try and earn maximum points for Human capital factors, such as age, language skills, education qualification;
  •  French language ability can help you get  additional bonus points in the Express Entry system;
  • Spouse or common-law partner human capital factors, if applicable;
  • Having any sibling who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, will get you bonus points;
  • Provincial Nomination is another important key to get the invitation.

Applying to the relevant Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and getting selected for the nomination can help you in getting additional CRS points of 600 in the federal express entry.

Canada’s Immigration Plan for 2019 – 2021

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in an announcement on October 31, 2018, revealed their plan to increase the immigration targets and welcome more than a million new permanent residents over three years under the Express Entry programs, i.e. Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class. They also plan to increase the newcomer’s intake through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

You can thus expect the number of ITAs in the next three years to be increased, giving more chances to the aspirants to make Canada their new home.
