IRCC invited 400 Canadian Experience Class candidates
On November 13, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the most recent Express Entry draw for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. IRCC issued 400 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates in the ninth CEC-targeted draw of the year. In round #323, the cut-off score was 547 points, 8 points more than the previous draw for this category. The tie-breaking rule for this round was April 10, 2024, at 03:58:05 UTC. As of November 12, 2024, 217,500 profiles were registered in the Express Entry pool. In 2024, Canada has already issued 91,968 invitations through 45 Express Entry draws.
British Columbia invited skilled candidates under the BCPNP
On November 13, 2024, the Government of British Columbia held new invitation draws under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and issued invitations to apply to skilled candidates in the general draw and to candidates with work experience in healthcare, childcare, construction and veterinary care occupations. In the general draw, the province invited ten candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited in this draw was 121 points. BC issued five ITAs to candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), who scored 102 points. In the Healthcare-targeted draw, British Columbia invited five candidates who scored 113 points. The province also issued four invitations to candidates working in the construction sector who scored 105 points and up to five invitations to candidates working in veterinary care occupations. In total, BCPNP issued up to 29 ITAs in this draw. This year, British Columbia has already invited up to 6,132 candidates.
Canada welcomed more Afghan refugees
On November 13, 2024, the Canadian Government made an update regarding the Afghan refugees arriving in the country. The last update shows Canada has welcomed 465 Afghan refugees since October 11, 2024. As of now, Canada has welcomed a total of 55,195 Afghan refugees. Canada received 20,735 Afghans and their families’ applications under the Special Immigration Measures Program for Afghans who had assisted the Government of Canada in Afghanistan. 15,505 Afghans arrived in Canada under that program, and 23,940 Afghan nationals came under the Humanitarian program. In addition, Canada admitted 4,130 applicants under the pathway for extended family members of former interpreters.
