Canada Hosts New Express Entry Draw To Issue 284 Invitations

Entry Draw Canada Express

Canada holds Express Entry draws regularly in order to invite skilled eligible candidates who will be able to benefit the economy of the country.

On March 31, Canada organized an Express Entry draw to issue invitations to 284 new immigrants who will now be able to submit an application for permanent residence. All the invited candidates will be hopeful that they can make the cut and become permanent residents.

Details of the draw

This draw specifically targeted candidates who had already secured a provincial nomination via the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score cutoff was 778 for the candidates. The people who received Invitations to Apply were chosen only if they met the minimum score requirements and satisfied the tie-break rule.

They must have registered their Express Entry profile prior to March 16, 2021, 16:09:32 UTC. The cut-off time under this rule is always published as part of administrative work irrespective of whether there was an actual tie.

The cut-off score of 778 can seem to be on the higher side in comparison to other draws but that is specifically because the chosen candidates already had provincial nominations. This meant that they had received an extra 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking Score or CRS which automatically boosted their score over others.

Effectively speaking, PNP candidates needed to have 178 CRS points only barring the nomination points in order to qualify for an invitation.

The Canadian border still has not opened up for non-essential travel for international candidates. At the moment, the country is hosting program-specific draws that would cater to people already living in the country.
