Canada Express Entry Invites 613 Candidates in Latest PNP Draw
Canada Express Entry has invited 613 candidates to apply for permanent residence, as of November 24. All these candidates were previously nominated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Express Entry is the management system for the three most popular immigration programs in Canada, which are:
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
A points-based system is used to evaluate the profiles of candidates as part of Canada Express Entry known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The candidates that score the highest will be given an invitation to apply for permanent residency.
Candidates will receive 600 points from the nomination that will boost the lowest cut-off score to 137. So, the people who are in the Express Entry category have already qualified for one of these programs, as part of the PNP.
An Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) officer will then evaluate the profile manually. The candidate will also have to sit for an interview and review biometrics and documents. If the application is accepted, they will provide a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). After the candidate receives the COPR, they can start setting up the steps to formally migrate to Canada.
The Canadian border was closed on 18th March 2020 due to the pandemic. As a result, the Canada Express Entry program focuses on admitting immigrants that were already in the country. In 2021, though, Canada invited nominees only from the Provincial Nominee Class and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
This past summer, the IRCC was issuing 6,000 CEC invitations at a time. So far in 2021, 27 CEC and 33 PNP draws have been held. Over 17,000 PNP candidates and 133,000 CEC candidates have been invited in this timeframe.
Canada’s borders are currently open for tourists and essential travellers that are fully vaccinated. As of January 1 2022, the Canadian border will only be open for people that are fully vaccinated from a recognised manufacturer.
