BC Welcomes 232 Immigrants With Its First PNP Draw of 2022
British Columbia welcomed 232 candidates through its first PNP draw of 2022 held on January 11. The province organized two draws through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and invited immigration candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.
The invitations were exclusively issued to the candidates under five pathways under the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC streams.
SI – Skilled Worker
SI – International Graduate
SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
EEBC – International Graduate
EEBC – Skilled Worker
British Columbia sent the majority of the invitations 201 through a general draw. The invitations were offered to the candidates with the minimum score requirements between 78 and 110 depending on the program. Also, another draw invited candidates with occupations that fall under NOC 0621 or NOC 0631 by offering 31 invitations with minimum scores of 110 across the board.
Since last February, The Canadian province of British Columbia has been conducting separate draws twice every month as a part of their PNP program. BC holds a draw due to the high number of candidates from labour market sectors registered in the province’s Skills Immigration Registration System.
Insight Into British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program
The BC Provincial Nominee Program aims at targeting foreign workers who wish to settle in Canada permanently. BC PNP has two main immigration streams: Skills Immigration and Express Entry, which are managed under British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). To apply, one needs to register an account then the system evaluates factors like education, work experience, and language skills to assign the score to the applicant.
The highest-scoring candidates will be offered an invitation to apply for provincial nomination to apply for PR when BC conducts one of its draws. In case, you receive an invitation you will have 1 month from the date of invitation to submit a complete application through the British Columbia online system. Upon submission of the application, you will be notified of the result within two to three months. A successful nomination becomes eligible to apply to IRCC for PR status under the Provincial Nominee Class.
