The province of Alberta has been trying to invite more eligible immigrants this year in order to make up for the losses suffered last year. A total of 300 candidates belonging to the Express Entry pool were invited by Alberta on March 26 to apply for a provincial nomination.
Details of the draw
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program or AINP invites candidates so they can apply for the Express Entry pool in the province. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System of CRS score for the draw was 301. It was mandatory for the candidates to have an existing profile in the Express Entry pool in order to receive an invitation during the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP draw.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada hold periodic Express Entry draws to invite the candidates with the highest scores to submit their applications for permanent residence. Candidates are usually assigned their Comprehensive Ranking System score on the basis of their age, educational qualifications, job experience, and language skills.
The people who manage to secure a provincial nomination from Alberta will receive an additional 600 CRS points. This means that they will get an invitation to apply for permanent residence for sure in the next Express Entry draw.
Alberta Express Entry
The Alberta Express Entry stream acts as an enhanced PNP for candidates in the Express Entry pool who will be able to benefit the province economically. Strong, existing connections to Alberta prove to be an advantage for candidates. Since the pandemic has led to travel bans, Alberta is only focusing on candidates who are living or working in the province.
